Every modern military teaches their soldiers to not leave fallen comrades behind. There's nothing special about the US military in this regard.

    >Just because Americans don't share an self-identifying ethnicity, or a feeling that we're superior or somehow exceptional to every other ethnic group, doesn't mean that Americans, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, politics, geography and wealth won't take exceptional chances to save each other in the heat of battle, knowing full well that death or severe wounds await, as it knows nor avoids no special group.

It's hard to take your thinly veiled accusations of Jewish or Israeli supremacy seriously when your entire post reeks of the base, emotionalistic American exceptionalism you'd find at any Toby Keith concert or Teabaggers rally.

2)I think tobacco makes the joint burn slower and more consistently, but some people don't enjoy the taste. If you don't like it, don't do it. Plenty of people (especially Americans it seems) do not like mixing weed and tobacco, even if they are cigarette smokers.

    3) I like to table roll because my fingers are pretty big. My friends ask me what i'm doing but i roll all my joints and cigarettes that way. First grind or pick your weed apart into very small pieces, removing seeds and stems. Lay about .5-1 gram evenly into the paper, leaving the ends of the paper somewhat empty. Gently but firmly roll the paper back and forth a bit between your fingers to spread the weed to the edges and give it a nice cylindrical shape. Then I put the joint on the table and roll it tightly so that the edge of the paper is tucked in and i can pick it up and roll it freehand the rest of the way. i only lick it when i have it almost completely rolled up so as not to weaken and tear the paper.

    Enjoy your smoke sir.

Even 3 years is too long. Patents are great for inventions that are really hard to make. Then, patenting is great because if you patent something not obvious, you have to document it completely in the patent application, so that others learn from you. If you patent a new revolutionary electrical motor which reinvents magnetics applications, then others can learn from you and build derivatives. Later, they have to license your patent to use their own improvements.

But patenting a 1 click to purchase button for decades is abusive ! It doesn't cost 100,000$ to develop such a button (well, maybe it does for them, but it's not that complex).

Well the Democrats quickly realized if they followed through with Universal Health Care they would betray the people who bribed them, the Republicans don't give a shit either way and are simply going to oppose the Democrats no matter what they do.

So while UHC would help alleviate the massive budget issues coming up in the next quarter century by forcing reform on the Insurance, Health, and Pharma Industries, we instead got this watered down "public option" which is so light on reforms it is almost pointless. I mean sure, we will insure everyone for 20 years, until we go broke. And now they can't even pass the public option, and instead want to just push out a pointless bill for publicity.

*We need real reform* not this compromise of a compromise bullshit.

I think sheep1e got it right downthread.

    BTW:

    - Democracy, voting, representation, citizenship: this is what you've been told. In fact, Athens' citizens were a wide minority. The majority were underage, women, or slaves.

    - secularism: in Greece maybe. Not in (imperial) Rome.

    - rule of law, trials, juries, accuser and defendant, rights: the same juries that condemned Socrates? they got the principle right, but the implementation... not always

    - schools, professional teachers, academies: run by people who had slaves -> lots of free time. Jews _were_ slaves in Israel, they sort-of emancipated only later (at the expense of being hated all around Europe) and they did develop a powerful culture that valued its roots in the Old Testament.

    - women not just as walking breeding devices. Martha and Mary from the New Testament don't look like breeding devices to me.

Israel, United States, Australia, and the four suck-ups: the Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau are "associated states" of the USA as per the 1981 Compact of Free Association agreement. Nauru is a poor "rentier" state depending on rental income from Australian; it also has economic asylum seekers in Oz. Remove the USA's "no" vote and Australia and the suck-ups will vote "yes". The would leave Israel as the only hold-out. Obama has said he favors the UN resolution. But he also favors a single-payer government health care system, and look how strongly he's pushing for that! So it remains to be seen if Obama will block any UN security council resolutions on Israel.

You've been drinking too much of the Reddit anti-Israel kool aid.

Israel has done plenty to accommodate the Palestinian situation. It signed the Oslo accords, and things started moving in the right direction, until Arafat knowingly funded and allowed sending homicide bombers against Israel thinking it would yield more in the negotiations.

Barak offered pretty much the whole deal to the Palestinians (>90% of the West Bank, all of Gaza, East Jerusalem + their holy sites), but they refused, because they demand 3 million Palestinian descendants of refugees get entry to Israel, and not just Palestine.

Then, during 2000-2008, Israel has only very lightly responded to rocket fire on its civilians, only occasionally firing at sources of fires or missile squads. Israel was under constant missile attacks, but noone spoke about it. When Israel finally decided enough was enough, and entered Gaza, everyone suddenly noticed the situation.

Then, when Goldstone, who has a history of accepting witness testimonies at face value without doing any fact checking, did exactly that to decide to blame Israel with war crimes, people seem to believe that.

Can you really tell them to fuck off? I mean, in every lease I've had there is a bit in there about the property being kept in a reasonable state of cleanliness. I always assumed if you refused to clean it to their standards they'd kick you out.

What bothers me most is the inconsistency. It's rarely the same person who inspects the place every time, and I've had people who mark everything as good and people who mark everything as poor - when the place is in exactly the same state every time. They should have a list of things they look for, and mark it against that, not their own personal opinion of what constitutes 'clean'.
